The Calm over Chaos Series touches on the emotional aspect of motherhood in particular the area of mum guilt and stress. While we may not always be able to control our circumstances or even what we feel, we can learn how to better cope with them. By understanding and managing our emotions first, we can then model healthy ways to ride the emotional waves from day to day and guide our families through theirs.
Emotions 101
Mothers are able to influence the emotional climate at home. Start with a deeper understanding of your emotional experiences, the common and unhealthy ways we tend to cope with our feelings, and the impact it has on the development of our children’s emotional intelligence.
Emotional Resilience 1: Regaining Control
Motherhood can feel like an emotional roller-coaster ride. Learn how to be a positive role model to your children by regaining better control over emotional experiences through the T.E.A. process.
Emotional Resilience 2: Recharging
Dealing with emotions can be draining, so it is important to find ways to be at our best each day. We will explore ways to strengthen our emotional resilience and possible steps to encourage our husbands’ involvement and support to cultivate a calm home environment.
Emotional Resilience 3: Repairing
Mothers can have meltdowns, too. When we do slip up, how well do we repair and reconnect the relationships with our loved ones? Taking ownership is the first step. Find out the 4 other parts to repairing and reconnecting after an emotional outburst.
Discussions will provide spaces for mums to interact, reflect on and share what they’ve learnt together.
