Sometimes\, fathers feel left out because many ante-natal programmes focus mainly on mums. That is why our programme invites dads to join in the conversation\, so both parents can feel supported from pregnancy onwards. \nWe want to help couples work together\, cheer dads on to be more hands-on\, and create a friendly community – making the journey to parenthood more meaningful and less stressful. \nWhat to Expect\nOur interactive two-part workshop gets couples ready for:\n\nWhat really changes when a baby arrives – the realities and rewards.\nShared responsibilities – working out who does what and managing expectations.\nIdentity shifts – understanding how becoming a parent changes you and your relationship.\nFather involvement – learning about the common barriers dads face and how to overcome them.\n\nWe believe parenthood is a team effort. DESCRIPTION:Since 2006\, the Centre for Fathering has been encouraging fathers to take time out from work in the first two days of the school year to ease their children into a new class. Back to School with Dad aims to encourage fathers to accompany their children to school on the first two days of a new school year\, so as to reassure their children of their interest and involvement in their academic journey. \nVirtual Back to School with Dad cards have also been designed for fathers and mothers to write a note of affirmation and encouragement\, which they can send to their children’s mobile phone or place the printed cards in their lunchboxes or school bags\, so that their children can be pleasantly surprised during recess. DESCRIPTION:Being a father means more than providing for the family.  Research consistently shows that a father’s active involvement enhances children’s social skills\, self-confidence\, motivation\, and academic performance.  \nThe ICAN Fathering Workshop is for all fathers\, including expectant fathers\, fathers with young children\, teenagers or young adults\, and grandfathers. Through this programme\, you can confidently say “ICAN become the father my children need”. \nWhat to Expect: \nThe “ICAN” framework\, developed by Dr Ken Canfield\, based on decades of extensive evidence-based research\, forms the basis of our ICAN Fathering Workshop.
