ICAN Fathering Workshop
August 31 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Being a father means more than providing for the family. Research consistently shows that a father’s active involvement enhances children’s social skills, self-confidence, motivation, and academic performance.
The ICAN Fathering Workshop is for all fathers, including expectant fathers, fathers with young children, teenagers or young adults, and grandfathers. Through this programme, you can confidently say “ICAN become the father my children need”.
What to Expect:
The “ICAN” framework, developed by Dr Ken Canfield, based on decades of extensive evidence-based research, forms the basis of our ICAN Fathering Workshop. Dr Canfield is an internationally acclaimed scholar and author who founded the National Center for Fathering in the USA.
The workshop emphasises four key elements of fathering:
- I for Involvement: Engaging in meaningful activities together with your children
- C for Consistency: Being reliable and fulfilling commitments made to your children
- A for Awareness: Keeping up to date on what is happening in your children’s life
- N for Nurturance: Expressing love through actions and words, providing security and confidence
It includes activities that will enhance your understanding of the profound impact of your interactions with your children. It also provides a safe setting for fathers to engage in meaningful discussions about fatherhood, making it highly impactful for participants.
Through the activities, you will:
- Be guided to reflect on how your father has influenced your life;
- Grow in appreciation of the significant impact and influence your actions and conversations have on your children; and
- Learn how to build stronger, more meaningful connections with your children
By the end of this interactive workshop, you will gain insights into:
- The importance of fathers
- The influence of your father on you as an individual and as a parent
- How you can reconnect and reconcile with your father
- The essence of being an ICAN father
- Ways to enhance your confidence and competence as a father
