The Centre for Fathering (CFF) is delighted to bring you a charity concert, showcasing Baroque music, to celebrate fatherhood and all things Papa.

STRINGS CONCERT: A TRIBUTE TO FATHERS
organised by Centre for Fathering
in collaboration with Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music
Tuesday 1 April 2014, 7:30pm, YSTCM Concert Hall

We would like to invite our friends, donors and sponsors to enjoy an evening with the renowned T’ang Quartet and students that they mentor from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

Concert highlights include J.S. Bach’s stately Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G, Tomaso Albinoni’s moving Adagio in G minor, and Edvard Grieg’s playful Holberg Suite, Op. 40 (Gavotte and Rigaudon), with contrasting selections from Heinrich Biber, Samuel Barber and Gustav Holst.

The T’ang Quartet began playing professionally in 1999, with a focus on sharing the joy and fun of classical music with a larger audience. The audience can always expect an ingenious performance from the Quartet, who have garnered many awards and performed with luminaries such as John Chen, Finghin Collins and Marian Hahn.

Supporting CFF
This concert will raise funds to support the non-profit CFF and our programmes. Notably, CFF organises “Reading with Dad”, a reading programme for incarcerated fathers. The initiative allows inmates to have their children visit them in prison. The fathers can then spend time with their children, reading to them a story book and learning about things that happened during their absence.

One participant, a 44-year-old inmate, said: “After this programme, I know that my child needs me so much. When I was outside, I did not realise it. I promised my children that upon my release, I will not do wrong again. I love them so much and I do not want to leave them again”.

By helping these fathers better understand their role as a father and the impact of their incarceration on their children, the programme seeks to deter fathers from repeating their past mistakes when they reintegrate into society and their families.
